Privacy policy

Hikari Capital (Pty) Ltd ("Hikari Auto", "we", "us", "our") operates this website (hikariauto.co.za) as a trade/business-to-business catalogue and enquiry service. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

• Contact and enquiry details you give us directly: name, email address, phone number, business/trading name, and the content of any quote request, trade account application, or contact-form message you submit.
• Technical/session information: your browser stores a session cookie so your shopping cart, saved lists and (where offered) trade-pricing sign-in work while you browse. We do not use this to build an advertising profile of you.
• We do not currently process online payments or store payment card details on this site.

What we record when you use this website. Our web server records each page you request, the address it came from (your IP address), your browser type, the page that referred you, and what you searched for. If you send us a quote request, contact form or account application, we link that record to the details you gave us, so our sales team can see which parts you looked at and help you faster. We use the public registry entry for an IP address to recognise the organisation it belongs to. We keep these records for up to 180 days (what was searched for up to 400 days, and quote requests as business records; an IP address itself is kept no longer than 180 days unless it is an organisation's address we have named). Only our staff can see them, and we do not sell or share them.

We use the information you give us to: respond to enquiries and quote requests; process trade account applications; keep your cart/saved lists working during a browsing session; and, where you've opted in, send you restock/promotion notifications. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties.

Enquiry, quote and application details are sent by email to our own sales team and are not shared outside Hikari Auto except where required by law. If a request is intended for a group company (for example, forwarding you to the right branch or sister brand), we'll only do that with your consent.

This site uses a small number of essential session cookies to keep your cart and saved lists working. It does not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Where a page embeds a Google Map, Google may set its own cookies when the map loads — see Google's own privacy policy for details.

We keep enquiry and application correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to handle your request and for our own record-keeping obligations, then delete or anonymise it. Session cookies expire automatically when your browser session ends or after a short period of inactivity.

You have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it's wrong, to ask us to delete it, and to object to how we use it, subject to any legal or contractual reasons we may need to keep it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the personal information you share with us. No system is completely secure, and you share information with us at your own risk.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
